That Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are dead. Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead. I enjoy reading them; on that basis, Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead is one of my favourite plays. Rosencrantz and Guildenstern, “being of so young days brought up with him” are childhood friends of Hamlet and are summoned to Elsinore to discover the cause of Hamlet's “transformation”. BOTTOM LINE: An entertaining production which can be enjoyed as a Shakespearean tour-de-force, an intellectual exercise, and an existential tragicomedy -– all at the same time. Tom Stoppard's plays are something of a paradox for me. Clifton Amateur Dramatic Society, critically acclaimed Edinburgh Festival veterans, are offering.
